Richard Hewlett was born and raised in the north west of England, but is now a permanent resident in Corfu.
He first came here on holiday in 1997. The natural beauty, the wonderful people and their hospitality, the light, the colours, the whole atmosphere not only captivated him but also his family.
So much so that it inspired him to paint and draw again. On each visit Richard produced more and more work, principally academic drawings and watercolours. Richard has training in fine art, so his creations were always a lot more than a hobby, but through this experience he came to realise that he was fast approaching his dream of becoming a full time painter.
With great support and encouragement from friends and family his dream has become a reality and he now has an art gallery on the right hand side of the approach road just as you turn off to enter Kassiopi from Aghios Stefanos.
In all his work his passion and love for the island, which he has now come to call home, is very apparent and he welcomes all who would like to view his latest exhibition - 'Corfu Landscapes and Trees'.
